What websites are
A website in UserTrail is a tracked property with its own site id, tracking snippet, settings, team access, sessions, heatmaps, funnels, forms, journeys, surveys, and reports.
Create a separate website for each domain or project you want to analyse separately.
Add a website
Open My sites and choose Add new site. Enter a clear site name and the domain you want to track.
After the site is created, UserTrail generates a tracking snippet for that site. Install that snippet on the matching website before expecting data to appear.
Name websites clearly
Use names that make sense to your team.
Good examples:
Acme Store - ProductionAcme BlogClient A - Main WebsiteLanding Pages - Paid Campaigns
Avoid generic names such as Website when you manage multiple sites.
Switch between websites
Use the site dropdown in the dashboard to switch between websites. Each site has its own analytics and settings.
If you cannot see a website you expect, check that:
- you are logged in with the correct account
- you accepted the team invitation
- the site owner gave you access
- you are not viewing a demo account
Manage site settings
Open a website and go to Settings to manage recording controls, privacy, masking, and other site-level options.
Only users with the right permission can change website settings. Read-only users can review reports but may not be able to edit tracking configuration.
Delete or stop tracking a website
If you no longer want to track a website, remove the UserTrail snippet from the website or disable recording in settings.
Before deleting or removing a site:
- export reports you need
- confirm no team members still use the data
- remove the tracking snippet from the website
- check billing or session usage impact
Website management checklist
- Create one site per tracked website or project.
- Install the matching snippet on the matching domain.
- Use clear names for sites.
- Review team access for each site.
- Confirm settings and privacy rules before recording real traffic.
