What the home dashboard shows
The home dashboard gives you a quick view of what is happening on a selected site. It combines traffic, behaviour, and recent activity so you can decide where to investigate next.
Depending on your site data, the dashboard can include:
- total sessions
- unique visitors
- pageviews
- average session duration
- sessions over time
- device breakdown
- latest sessions
- latest heatmaps
- forms, surveys, funnels, and journeys
- friction and conversion signals
Use the date range
The date range controls the period shown across dashboard metrics. Use it to compare recent behaviour with a known launch, campaign, or website change.
Common date ranges include:
- today
- last 7 days
- last 30 days
- custom campaign period
- before and after a website release
Review traffic first
Start with sessions, visitors, and pageviews. These metrics tell you whether the site has enough activity to interpret the rest of the dashboard.
If traffic changed sharply, check whether it matches a campaign, content launch, outage, or tracking change.
Open recent sessions
Recent sessions are useful for checking that tracking is working and for spotting obvious problems quickly.
Open recordings when you want to see:
- how visitors navigate the site
- whether a page looks correct in replay
- where visitors hesitate
- whether friction events are meaningful
- what happens before abandonment
Open heatmaps
Latest heatmaps help you inspect page-level behaviour. Use them to understand where visitors click, how far they scroll, and whether important page sections are being ignored.
Review heatmaps for high-traffic pages first, then compare by device.
Watch for mismatched data
The dashboard is a starting point. If one metric looks unusual, open the detailed report before making decisions.
Examples:
- high sessions but low conversions may need funnel review
- high form views but low submits may need form analytics
- many friction events may need replay and friction heatmaps
- low scroll depth may need page layout review
Best practices
- Check the dashboard after installing tracking.
- Review it after website changes.
- Use the dashboard to choose which detailed report to open.
- Compare trends across date ranges.
- Investigate high-impact pages before low-traffic pages.
