What client reports include

Client reports are PDF exports designed for agencies and teams that need to share a summary with clients or stakeholders.

Depending on available data, a client report can include:

Reports use real site data for the selected date range. If a feature has no data, the report should not invent placeholder results.

Choose a date range

Select the reporting period before generating the report. Common periods include:

  • last 7 days
  • last 30 days
  • previous month
  • campaign period
  • before and after a website change

Use the same date range each month if you want consistent comparisons.

Add branding first

Agency users can add an agency name and branding image before generating reports. This helps make exports client-ready.

Check that branding is current before downloading or emailing a report.

Generate the report

From the Agency page, choose the date range and download the client report. UserTrail prepares the report in the background and emails it when ready.

If the same report has already been generated for the same site and date range, UserTrail may return the existing report instead of creating a duplicate.

Review before sharing

Always review the report before sending it to a client. Confirm that:

  • the date range is correct
  • the agency name and branding are correct
  • the metrics match the intended site
  • empty sections are expected
  • recommendations are appropriate

How to use client reports

Use the report as a discussion guide rather than a complete diagnosis. The best follow-up is usually to open the linked sessions, heatmaps, funnels, forms, or friction reports and review the evidence together.

Best practices

  • Generate reports after enough data has been collected.
  • Use consistent date ranges for monthly reporting.
  • Review all AI-generated summaries before sending.
  • Use session links and heatmaps as supporting evidence.
  • Turn opportunities into specific next actions.
