Open account settings
Open the account dropdown and choose Account. Account settings apply to your UserTrail login and user profile, not just one website.
Use account settings to manage:
- email and account information
- password
- timezone
- affiliate information
- payout settings
- agency profile settings where available
Some settings may only appear for certain account types or roles.
Timezone
Your timezone affects how dates and reporting periods are displayed in the dashboard.
Set the timezone that best matches how you review analytics. For example, use your business timezone if your reports are reviewed by a local team.
Changing timezone may change how dates appear in dashboards, but it does not rewrite historical event timestamps.
Password and login
Use account settings to update your password when you need to rotate credentials or secure the account.
Choose a strong password and avoid reusing passwords from other services. If your team shares access, invite each person as a team member instead of sharing one login.
If you forget your password, use the password reset flow from the login page.
Branding and agency settings
Agency users can manage agency-specific settings from the Agency page. This includes report branding and agency name, where available.
Branding can be used in generated reports such as heatmap reports and client reports. Keep branding assets professional and high resolution enough for exported PDFs.
Affiliate settings
If affiliate features are enabled for your account, you can view referral details and manage coupon codes from the affiliate account page.
Affiliate settings may include:
- referral link
- referral id
- coupon codes
- PayPal payout email
- performance and commission history
Coupon codes must be unique. If a code is already taken, choose another code.
Email notifications
UserTrail sends account and product emails such as:
- welcome emails
- setup reminders
- first session recording emails
- weekly reports
- session refill notices
- report download emails
Make sure your account email is one you monitor. Some emails contain useful setup or reporting links.
Deleting or changing ownership
Be careful before deleting an account or changing ownership of websites. Account-level changes can affect access to sites, reports, billing, affiliate settings, and team permissions.
Before making a major account change:
- Export any reports you need.
- Confirm who owns each website.
- Review billing status.
- Check team access.
- Confirm agency or affiliate settings are no longer needed.
Account settings checklist
- Timezone matches your reporting workflow.
- Password is strong and private.
- Team members have their own logins.
- Affiliate payout email is correct if affiliate features are used.
- Agency branding is configured from the Agency page where applicable.
- Billing and subscription settings are reviewed separately from the Billing page.
